8/1/2021 Trevor Locke joins coaching staff

The Royal Ramblers are pleased to announce that Trevor Locke will be joining the coaching staff for the fall 2021 season!  Trevor played on the men’s club after high school and was a major contributor towards their first appearance on the national stage during the second place finish in the DIII national championship in 2010.
From there Trevor went on to be a standout at Lindenwood University where he played on a team that won the National Championship.  He has been on the coaching staff at Lindenwood alternating between the men’s and women’s team for the past 5 years and his expertise is highly sought after from both clubs.
The Royal Ramblers welcome Trevor back to an active role.  It is rumored he may decide to step back on the pitch as a player occasionally, but we will be happy to have him either way!

8/4/2020 Fall Season Suspended Due to COVID

Following the Mid America Rugby announcement, the St Louis Royal Rambler Rugby Club will be suspending activities until further notice. Stay fit, stay active and stay safe. Wash hands!

Mid America Statement

The Mid-America Rugby Football Union (MARFU) extends its deepest sympathies to all who have been impacted by COVID-19. The health and safety of our players, coaches, referees, and supporters is our utmost priority. It is with this in mind that the GU Executive Board has decided to suspend the competitive 15’s season for Fall 2020. Please understand that this was not an easy decision. After considering the geographical area and the current situation with the pandemic, it was determined that we could not ensure the health and safety of our members with a competitive schedule.
We understand that some areas maybe under lesser restrictions and able to have unrestricted contact rugby. The Exec Board is currently working on a GU Guideline to assist clubs who are able to host practices and potential “friendlies”. That will be published prior to Sept 1.
We will continue to monitor the Covid-19 situation and it is our hope that we will be able to return to competitive play in 2021. Your Mens and Womens Competition Directors will be working on this possibility.
We thank our membership for your patience, understanding, and support as we navigate through these challenging times.
Sincerely,
Sean Cox
President Mid-America GU

3/10/2020 Coronavirus Update

Following the guidelines of USA Rugby, Mid America Rugby and Local authorities, the St Louis Royal Rambler Rugby Club will be suspending activities until further notice. Stay fit, stay active and stay safe. Wash hands!

USA Rugby Statement

Dear Members,

USA Rugby today announced the decision to suspend sanctioned rugby competition and activities for a 30-day period effective immediately. With the threat of Coronavirus (COVID-19) escalating day by day, the need for suspended activities was a complicated but necessary resolution. The 2020 USA Rugby Spring College Championships and College 7s National Championship have also been canceled due to precautionary measures within the union and a growing number of colleges and universities.

USA Rugby CEO, Ross Young: “It’s been an extraordinary period of time around the globe, whereby the rugby community is of course affected. While we evaluated as best we could to keep competitions intact, the situation has risen to a point where precautionary measures take precedence and is in the best interest of not only our members, but the general public.”

Effective immediately, USA Rugby adamantly encourages all members to suspend competition and rugby activities for the next 30 days to ensure the health and safety of themselves and those around them. The USA Rugby Medical Committee will continue to monitor the condition of COVID-19 and provide further instruction before the end of this period on April 12, 2020. Playoffs, qualifiers and eventual championship events for USA Rugby Spring College XVs and 7s will not occur in 2020.

While regional and national Senior Club competition is included in the immediate suspension, the 2020 Club XV and Club 7s Championships will remain under review. With a differing competition calendar to the scholastic game, the state of those events will be determined at the end of the 30-day period.

Through the provisional period, members are encouraged to stay tuned with USA Rugby communication channels and social media for live updates and information on the situation.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience during this complicated time; please remember to follow the guidance of health officials in your every day operations and we look forward to taking the pitch again soon.

Sincerely,
USA Rugby

Mid America GU Statement

To all Mid-America GU Members :

Given the current environment and concerns for the safety of our community, we will be postponing all Mid-America GU rugby activities. The GU Board of Directors have voted and due to the rapidly changing landscape surrounding the Covid-19 ( Coronavirous ) pandemic it will cease all rugby activities until March 31st, 2020. At this time , and prior , the BOD will be closely monitoring suggestions from USA Rugby, the CDC and Local Health Organizations to determine the best and safest course of action for our players, coaches, referees, fans and supporters. We will also be working with the Frontier Competitions Committee and USA Rugby to determine how league matches and playoffs will work upon return to play.

This was a difficult decision to be made, but as we constantly promote safety on and off the pitch, the safety of our members health and well being made this decision the correct one. Please make all necessary arrangements to cancel field rentals, trainers, socials, travel plans, etc.

While we can not enforce a “no practice” policy, we do discourage it during this time. If teams are going to practice please follow the guidelines put forth by USA Rugby and the CDC. ( links below )

Please be safe and take care of yourselves and families.

Sincerely,
Mid-America GU Board of Directors

A New Merger

The St Louis Royals Rugby Club is happy to announce its merger with the St Louis Ramblers Rugby Club effective for the 2019/2020 season. The Royals, with this merger with the 85-year-old St Louis Ramblers, are looking to secure our future and repeat our success as the 2017 National Champions. The St Louis Royal Ramblers will field both a D2 and D3 side in the 2019/20 season and will train and play at Lou Fusz Athletic.  Our goal is to advance both teams to the National play-offs with the ultimate goal of gaining promotion to D1 and D2.

“The merger of these two clubs is a historic step for rugby in the city of St Louis.  It’s exciting to see the enthusiasm from both clubs to join as one and compete for national titles across all divisions”, says Ryan Dunn, President of the Royals.  Colin Heath, President of the Ramblers says “The two clubs have a long rich history and we’re excited about the merger.  The combining of resources and players will no doubt elevate the play and talent pool of rugby in St Louis.”
